Jessica Alba has shown an interest to be an actress when she was very young. Although sickly and physically impaired when she was a child, Jessica determined not to let these obstacles hinder her dream of becoming a Hollywood celebrity. She overcame her difficulties and went on to study acting at the Atlantic Theater Company after high school.
She is a former child star and made her big screen debut in 1994’s “Camp Nowhere”. She also played a prominent role in the series “Flipper” and gained Internet popularity, although a kidnapping incident during her stint in the series made more news than her acting. Fortunately, she escaped from the ordeal unharmed and was lucky enough to earn other big screen appearances in the movies “Idle Hands” opposite Devon Sawa and the hit comedy starring Drew Barrymore “Never Been Kissed”. During her time shooting “Flipper”, she was also seen in the disastrous movie “Venus Rising” and made-for-TV movie “Too Soon for Jeff”. But unlike other child stars, the Latin actress did not fade into obscurity. Instead, her beauty blossomed and she got more exposure with appearances in many television shows including “Beverly Hills, 90210”, “Brooklyn South” and “The Love Boat: The Next Wave”.
Because of her rising popularity and coupled with her exotic good looks, she was cast as the lead in James Cameron’s sci-fi television series “Dark Angel”. This proved to be her biggest break in the industry as she earned a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the series. Her star is definitely shining now, and after a brief hiatus from the big screen, she portrayed the lead role in 2003’s “Honey”, a dance-centric movie where her dancing skills were effectively showcased. She also appeared as an exotic dancer in the hit movie “Sin City”, further enhancing her sexy image. But the actress wanted to be seen as a serious actress. She showed diversity in her acting when she performed in the action/suspense “Into the Blue” opposite Paul Walker and as Sue Storm in the adventure/superhero movie “Fantastic Four” and its sequel “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”. She showed her funnier side in the romantic comedy “Good Luck Chuck”. Other movie credits include “Awake”, “The Ten”, horror flick “The Eye” and “The Love Guru”.
